Romania and the Netherlands signed a contract to transfer 18 F-16 fighter jets for a symbolic price of 1 euro.

According to a report by Russian news agency, citing the Romanian Ministry of Defense, Romania and the Netherlands have signed a contract to transfer 18 F-16 fighter jets, with a symbolic price of 1 euro.

The ministry stated: "The aircraft stationed at the Fetești F-16 pilot training center will become state assets of Romania for a price of 1 euro."

The Ministry added that, according to the declared value of the aircraft and the estimated 100 million euro logistics support package, Romania will also have to pay 21 million euros in value-added tax.

The agreement also stipulates that Romania will provide a certain number of training slots for pilots from NATO member countries and partner countries at the training center. The statement emphasized that these planes will be used solely for training purposes.

Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Paris plans to provide additional Aster air defense missiles and Mirage fighter jets to Ukraine. Florian Philippot, leader of the French "Patriots" party, criticized the president's plan to transfer missiles and fighter jets to Kyiv.
