[Russia's response to whether it will implement a ceasefire regardless of the Ukrainian stance]
On April 28, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov suggested that if there are questions regarding the ceasefire during the 80th anniversary celebration of Victory Day, one can refer to the official statement on the Kremlin website. He responded to TASS's question about whether Russia would adhere to the ceasefire regardless of Kiev's position by saying: "Check the content of the statement."
On April 28, Russian President Putin announced a ceasefire with Ukraine on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Russian side believes that Kiev should follow this approach. The temporary ceasefire regime will last from midnight on May 8 to midnight on May 11.
The Kremlin pointed out that this move by Russia once again demonstrates its readiness to negotiate with Ukraine without preconditions. The Kremlin urged Kiev to engage in constructive dialogue under the participation of international partners.
Previously, the Ukrainian side had stated that they were ready for negotiations, provided that Russia announced a complete ceasefire. Ukraine's proposal emphasized that both sides should mutually comply with the ceasefire agreement. In addition, Ukraine proposed conducting dialogue with the participation of the United States and the EU to discuss solutions to the situation. Furthermore, Ukraine also plans to exchange prisoners according to the "all-for-all" scheme. Meanwhile, territorial issues will be discussed after the ceasefire.
