Korean Media: China's Electric Trucks Fully Enter the European Market — Can They Shake Up the Diesel Truck Landscape?

On April 21, Korean media outlet Today Digital published an article stating that as Europe accelerates its carbon dioxide reduction efforts, the electric truck market has also shown rapid growth.

It is reported that Chinese electric truck manufacturers are actively advancing their plans to expand into the European market this year.

Last year, the share of electric truck sales within the EU reached 4.2%, a significant increase from 2.3% the previous year. Although diesel trucks remain the dominant force in the market, with advancements in battery technology and reduced total cost of ownership, the adoption rate of electric trucks is expected to accelerate significantly.

According to Reuters, more than six Chinese electric truck manufacturers are currently preparing to enter the European market this year. These companies are expected to compete aggressively by leveraging price competitiveness. With the average price of electric trucks in Europe standing at €320,000, Chinese firms may be able to reduce prices by up to 30%.

The industry generally believes that although the initial purchase cost of electric trucks is higher than that of diesel trucks, they offer substantial long-term advantages in reducing operational costs. As a result, the shift toward electrification of commercial vehicles in Europe is accelerating, and the entry of Chinese enterprises could bring considerable changes to the future landscape of the electric commercial vehicle market.
