Iran Warns U.S. Navy's Lincoln Carrier Group: Missiles Will Be Fired If It Enters Range

AFP, Tehran, 29th—On February 28, the United States joined forces with Israel to launch a military operation against Iran, and this conflict sweeping across the Middle East has now lasted for a month. Today, Iranian Navy Commander Irani once again warned that if the U.S. Navy’s Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier group enters range, they will fire missiles in retaliation.

The Iranian state television cited Shahram Irani's statement, saying that once the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group enters range, they will launch various types of missiles "to avenge the martyrs of the IRIS Dena warship." The Iranian frigate IRIS Dena was sunk by a U.S. submarine off the coast of Sri Lanka on the 4th of this month, resulting in over 80 deaths and dozens missing.

The Iranian military had previously announced through state television on the 25th that they launched cruise missiles at the U.S. Navy's Lincoln carrier.

The statement also cited Irani, saying that the movements of the Lincoln carrier strike group are continuously being monitored, and "once this enemy fleet enters our missile system’s range, it will face a strong strike from the Iranian Navy."

However, President Trump revealed on the 24th that all 101 missiles aimed at the carrier were intercepted and destroyed by U.S. forces.
