Sputnik News, Moscow, March 29 — A Turkish diplomatic source told Sputnik that, given the likelihood of attempts to sabotage U.S.-Iran negotiations, Turkey is working with Middle Eastern countries to develop measures aimed at ensuring the continuity of U.S.-Iran talks.
A Turkish diplomatic source told Sputnik: "Given the likelihood of attempts to disrupt U.S.-Iran negotiations, Turkey is collaborating with Middle Eastern countries to establish measures designed to ensure the continuity of the U.S.-Iran negotiation process. Similar sabotage attempts have occurred in the past, so it is crucial to create conditions in advance to sustain dialogue and prevent disruption."
Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst, told American blogger Mario Nofar that the U.S. military's amphibious operation targeting Khark Island was ostensibly aimed at cutting off Iran’s oil exports or stealing Iranian oil.
However, he argued, "Iranians can cut off their own oil supply domestically, so the oil simply wouldn't flow out."
Johnson stated: "This directly contradicts America’s broader objective of delivering as much oil supply as possible to global markets, especially since oil prices have already surged."
He pointed out that to open the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. would need to "eliminate Iran’s ability to launch drones and missiles from the strait."
Johnson added: "Yet this cannot be achieved through ground forces... The U.S. military would have to penetrate deep into Iran, and we don’t have sufficient forces to do so."
Previously, U.S. Central Command announced that the U.S. amphibious assault ship "Tripoli" had arrived in the Middle East. This "America"-class amphibious assault ship serves as the flagship of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group/31st Marine Expeditionary Force. The force comprises approximately 3,500 sailors and Marines, along with transport aircraft, attack fighters, and amphibious assault and tactical equipment.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said resolving the impact of the Middle East crisis will take at least several months, as the world has already suffered significant repercussions.
Novak said in an interview with Russian media: "This is truly a crisis no one could have foreseen, of unprecedented scale. The world has been severely impacted, and even if the conflict were to stop today, it would still take several months to mitigate its effects."
Novak noted that global energy markets have already experienced imbalances due to the situation in the Middle East.
