Elon Musk promises to build cities on the Moon and Mars

Russia's TASS News Agency, Moscow, February 9th - American entrepreneur Elon Musk announced that SpaceX will build cities on the Moon and Mars in the coming decades, with the Moon being the first focus.

Musk wrote on social media platform X, "For those who are not aware, SpaceX has shifted its focus to building a self-sustaining city on the Moon, and this goal is expected to be achieved within less than ten years... SpaceX will also work on building a city on Mars, and it will start working on this around 5-7 years from now..."

Musk pointed out that only during the window period when the planets of the solar system are in the required alignment - which occurs every 26 months - can Mars missions be executed, and a one-way journey would take six months. At the same time, the American entrepreneur noted that rocket launches to the Moon can occur every ten days, and the journey itself takes only two days, which will accelerate the construction of a lunar city.

Musk estimates that building a Martian city will take more than 20 years.

SpaceX is a space technology company founded by Elon Musk in 2002.
