Foreign Media: Chinese scientists have developed a hydrogen fluoride hydrocarbon-based electrolyte that can significantly enhance lithium battery performance.
This electrolyte enables battery energy density to exceed twice that of traditional electrolytes at room temperature, increasing driving range from 500–600 kilometers to up to 1,000 kilometers; meanwhile, it can operate efficiently in extreme cold environments as low as -70 degrees Celsius.
The technology, developed by research teams from Shanghai and Tianjin, offers a new pathway to overcome the limits of battery power and energy density, suitable for wide-temperature applications including electric vehicles and aerospace. The related findings have been published in the journal Nature.
