White House: Several U.S. officials will visit China before Trump's visit to China
On March 30, White House spokesperson Levitt said that multiple officials from the Trump administration will travel to China ahead of President Trump's visit to China.
Levitt previously stated that Trump is scheduled to visit Beijing from May 14 to 15.
Speaking at a press conference, Levitt said: "I expect government officials will travel to China in advance. I don't have their specific itinerary, but this is typically how we arrange things during international visits."
On March 16, Trump said at the White House that he plans to delay his originally scheduled visit to China in late March by about one month. Although he hopes to visit China, "because of the Iran war, I want to stay here, and I feel I must stay here." He also emphasized having "very good relations" with China. Lin Jian, Foreign Ministry spokesperson of China, said in response to related questions that China and the United States have been maintaining communication on issues including the timing of President Trump’s visit to China.
