Foreign Minister of Russia: Russia and China Must Maintain Dialogue in a Complex and Turbulent World Situation
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated during the ASEAN series of meetings held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, that he met with the Chinese Foreign Minister, emphasizing that Russia and China need to maintain stable dialogue in the complex and changing global situation.
Lavrov pointed out that he also held talks with the Chinese Foreign Minister during the BRICS Leaders' Summit held in Rio de Janeiro from July 6th to 7th.
Lavrov said, "The global and strategic nature of the Russia-China relationship has once again been confirmed, and this relationship is even more needed in the complex and changing world situation. Russia and China need to maintain a stable dialogue with the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership."
According to Lavrov, he hopes to have detailed discussions with the Chinese Foreign Minister on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and to highlight the key role of ASEAN in the Asia-Pacific region.
Lavrov concluded, "We will certainly also discuss the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. China is currently the rotating chair of the organization. The BRICS, G20, and APEC also require our continuous attention."
Lavrov also extended his congratulations to the Chinese side on the 104th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The founding day of the Communist Party of China is July 1st.
