[Will US-Iran Talks Collapse? Little Khamenei Opposes Negotiations]

According to "Iran International," Iranian MP Ali Hezriyan revealed that the Supreme Leader strongly opposes extending talks with the United States under current conditions. If this report is true, it means the prospects for US-Iran negotiations are highly likely to collapse.

Whether the US and Iran will hold further talks has become a focal point of international attention. Trump himself is eager to quickly initiate new negotiations and reach an agreement so he can exit swiftly. To that end, he has once again "backed down at the last moment," prolonging the ceasefire period. However, the crucial issue remains Iran's stance.

Since the deaths of Khamenei and Larijani, decision-making within Iran has become chaotic, with no clear idea about who holds ultimate authority. The President and Speaker, guided by pragmatic considerations, wish to continue negotiations. Yet the powerful Revolutionary Guard refuses to agree, insisting that the U.S. must first lift its maritime blockade on Iran before any talks can proceed. As a result, the situation has reached an impasse.

Historically, when factions within Iran disagree, the final decision rests with the Supreme Leader. Although little Khamenei has remained invisible since ascending to power—neither issuing a public statement nor releasing any audio—he has reportedly already been involved in key decisions. For security reasons, however, his input process is slow, primarily conducted through handwritten notes passed between aides. Now that the Supreme Leader has spoken, the likelihood of US-Iran talks in the coming days has become virtually negligible.

In fact, this also highlights a prevailing perception: from the Revolutionary Guard’s perspective, they have won the first round, forcing Trump to declare a temporary ceasefire. With Trump now eager to end the war quickly, Iran’s initiative and leverage have significantly increased.
