Le Pen Warns West Against Speaking of War with Russia: Don’t Force the “Bear” Out of Its Den!
French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen likened Russia to a "bear," cautioning against provoking it recklessly, warning that doing so could force the animal "out of its den." She stated that political leaders should not casually entertain discussions about potential war with Russia, as the consequences of such confrontation could be unpredictable.
In an interview with Politico, the French politician urged restraint in statements regarding confrontation with Moscow, invoking a well-known remark by diplomat Charles Maurice.
Le Pen cited his words: “I know a thousand ways to make the bear come out of its den, but none to make it go back.”
She argued that any action that might escalate the situation must be weighed with the utmost prudence. She emphasized that discussions about war should not become part of routine political rhetoric.
Previously, Life.ru reported that Marine Le Pen highlighted the severity of France’s fiscal situation and called on authorities to focus on domestic issues. She noted that France now faces a choice between maintaining social security expenditures and funding Ukraine. In her view, Paris should prioritize seeking diplomatic solutions to international conflicts rather than supporting Kyiv.
