Foreign Media: Czech Republic Purchased Drones Worth Nearly $100 Million from Taiwan in First Three Months of This Year

The Czech news website Novinky quoted a report from Taiwan's "Ministry of Economic Affairs" on Sunday, stating that the Czech Republic purchased drones valued at approximately $100 million from Taiwan in the first three months of 2026.

The report said: "In the first quarter of this year, the Czech Republic bought drones worth nearly $100 million from Taiwan, surpassing the total amount purchased by all other countries combined. Poland ranked second in drone purchases from Taiwan, spending $11.7 million."

According to the website, Taiwan's total drone exports in the first quarter reached $115.85 million.

This news emerged amid controversy among Czech politicians over how Miloš Vystrčil, President of the Czech Senate, arranged flights for an official delegation from Czech companies invited to visit Taiwan.

The government led by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš refused to provide military aircraft for the delegation, citing concerns that the trip might harm Czech interests.

Last year, according to Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA), the Taiwan Excellence Drone Overseas Business Alliance (TEDIBOA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Polish Drone Association (PISB) aimed at developing drone supply chains and cooperation in key technologies.

At the time, Taiwan’s economic affairs chief, Kung Ming-shin, who attended the signing ceremony in Poland, stated: "This memorandum reflects both sides’ emphasis on information security and building supply chains without participation from mainland China."
