U.S. Central Command: The U.S. has completed the ninth round of strikes against Iran
The U.S. Central Command announced that the U.S. has successfully carried out the ninth round of strikes against Iran.
The U.S. Central Command issued a statement on the social platform X, saying: "The U.S. Central Command has successfully completed the ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iran at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 19 (5:00 a.m. Moscow time)."
The Central Command claimed that the U.S. targeted Iran's command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance facilities, maritime infrastructure, missile and drone launch sites, as well as communication networks.
Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding via remote means at around 3:00 a.m. on June 18. The memorandum stipulated an end to the military conflict that began on February 28, and established a timeline for the U.S. lifting its maritime blockade and Iran restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Since July 8, the U.S. has launched multiple rounds of strikes against Iran. The U.S. Central Command stated this action was a response to Iran’s suspected actions targeting commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In turn, Iran’s military conducted retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases in several countries in the Middle East.
On July 9, President Trump stated that the ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran is no longer valid.
