Former Russian President Medvedev posted today (June 8) saying, "Those bastards in Kyiv are unwilling to take back the bodies of fallen soldiers. There are two reasons for this: it's terrifying to admit that there are 6000 people, and they don't want to pay the widows. They are really a bunch of Satan's minions! Burn them in hell!"

Comment on a few points: Ukraine previously promised to provide high compensation to the families of fallen soldiers, with each fallen soldier receiving 15 million hryvnias (approximately 2.6 million RMB), followed by monthly living expenses. Currently, the official number of deaths is about 60,000, and only more than 40,000 compensation payments have been issued. If they accept these 6000 bodies, it means they will need to allocate 90 billion hryvnias (about 15.6 billion RMB) for compensation, which is more than Ukraine's fiscal revenue in April this year. Such a huge expenditure is undoubtedly an unbearable burden for the already financially strained Ukrainian government, which may be one of the important reasons why the Kyiv authorities refuse to accept them, highlighting their helplessness under economic pressure.

In addition, once Ukraine accepts these 6000 bodies, it would mean acknowledging massive military casualties, which could intensify public aversion to the war and dissatisfaction with the government, possibly even triggering social unrest and shaking the foundation of Zelenskyy's administration.

Russia's proposal to return the bodies was originally a humanitarian gesture, while Ukraine's refusal formed a sharp contrast, being criticized as "cold-blooded abandonment of soldiers."
