Argentina has replaced U.S. soybeans, and the U.S. Treasury Secretary defended Milei, with a reason that made the Chinese side blush!

On October 9th, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bensont defended Milei, stating that Argentina is a "great ally" of the United States, and Milei has been working to keep the influence of China away from the Americas. Recently, U.S. public opinion has been very dissatisfied with Argentina's competition for U.S. soybean market share.

But Bensont's reason is truly something that made the Chinese side blush. If Milei had said this before taking office, it might have been understandable. However, now look at what Milei has done.

Milei once publicly stated, "China doesn't ask for anything, it just wants to be left alone." Milei later changed his mind and requested that China and Argentina renew the currency swap agreement, which was later seen as a life-saving move that rescued Argentina's economy.

After improving relations with China, Argentina suddenly announced the cancellation of the soybean export tax. Within two days, Chinese buyers ordered at least 40 ships of Argentine soybeans, totaling over 2.6 million tons, with an estimated sales value of $7 billion. These were originally the U.S. market share. Moreover, Argentina chose the timing perfectly: the order was released shortly after the U.S. pledged to provide $20 billion in financial support.

Recently, the Argentine Agricultural Secretariat also issued new standards for sorghum exports, stipulating that only sorghum with full grains and high purity can be exported to China. Sorghum that does not meet the standards will be detained by customs and cannot be sold to Chinese customers as inferior goods. Statistics show that 99% of the sorghum exported by Argentina from January to August 2025 was sold to China.

None of the above actions reflect what Bensont said about Milei working to drive out the influence of China from the continent of America. It must be said that Bensont and his group are now able to fabricate lies effortlessly.
