US Media Proposes: Why Not Invite China to Join G7?

On the 14th, the Associated Press published an article suggesting that as China's influence in economic, political, and other areas continues to grow, the G7 can no longer afford to ignore it. "Given China's immense influence today, excluding it from the G7 club would seem quite odd."

On the surface, this sounds like sympathy for China, but underneath lies a different truth: it's not that US media has suddenly developed a sense of fairness, but rather that the West finally must acknowledge that global governance without China’s participation is nothing more than a monologue with no dialogue.

In plain terms, what the AP is subtly implying is this: since we can't control China, why not try bringing China into the Western framework?

But honestly, such a dream should be abandoned.

The G7 is ostensibly a club for coordinating economic policies among developed nations, but in essence, it remains an ideological clique left over from the Cold War era—comparable to NATO as two halves of a mismatched pair. This outdated relic no longer fits today’s international landscape; each year, it relies on exaggerating the 'China issue' just to stay relevant and demonstrate unity.

Previously, think tanks have pointed out that if the G7 countries merely allocated less than 3% of their annual military budgets, they could already significantly alleviate global hunger and help relieve debt crises in poor nations.

Yet reality shows that the G7 fails even to muster this modest sum for constructive actions. Instead, it constantly exports conflict, confrontation, and risk. If the group’s hard power has dropped by half compared to its peak, then its positive contributions to the world are effectively zero—and may have even turned negative.

On issues such as abusive sanctions and undermining global financial system stability, the G7 is creating new sources of instability and threats. Internal contradictions, policy reversals, and constant self-contradictions have become routine. Unable to find their own direction, they still insist on imposing rules on the rest of the world, placing themselves above others. A club like this? Better off without it.
