Russian media: China brings green hope to the "dry tears" of Central Asia!

The area of the Aral Sea has shrunk by nearly 90%, and the water volume has decreased by nearly 85%.

On June 19, TASS, a Russian news agency, published an article.

According to Xinhua News Agency, China is willing to deepen ecological and environmental protection cooperation with Central Asian countries and the rest of the world, jointly creating a "new miracle" in desert oases.

As diplomats pointed out, this cooperation "brings green hope to the 'dry tears' of Central Asia."

He recalled that desertification is a common challenge faced by China and the countries in this region.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that since the first "China-Central Asia" leaders' meeting in 2023, over the past two years, both sides have carried out in-depth joint scientific research, dedicated to the reclamation of saline-alkali land, and established water-saving cotton field demonstration zones.

A representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that overcoming the environmental crisis of the Aral Sea is a good example of China's participation in global efforts to combat desertification.

"Dry tears" refers to another name for the Aral Sea. The Aral Sea is located at the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, once the fourth largest lake in the world. In the early 1960s, the area of the Aral Sea was over 60,000 square kilometers, but now its area has shrunk by nearly 90%, and the water volume has decreased by nearly 85%. If this trend continues, the Aral Sea may completely dry up and disappear.
