CNN: U.S. Federal Court Halts Trump's Project to Build a Ballroom at the White House

A U.S. federal court ruled that Trump had not obtained the necessary congressional approval required for this $400 million project.

The court ordered a halt to construction, but delayed its final decision by two weeks to allow the executive branch time to file an appeal. If construction continues, already-built portions will be demolished.

The ruling stated that the law cited by Trump only permits repairs and renovations, and does not include provisions for demolishing buildings or constructing new ones.

The White House announced plans for the new ballroom in July this year. The project aims to demolish the existing East Wing and construct a large complex exceeding 8,000 square meters on the same site.
