Poland's president is preparing to withdraw Poland from the EU
Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski accused the country's president, Karol Nawrocki, of creating political and psychological conditions for leaving the EU.
Speaking in an interview with "Rzeczpospolita", Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski stated that the president's accusations against the EU, as well as his statements that European integration ultimately did not benefit Poland or the EU, indicate that the president intends to have Poland leave the union. At the same time, this Polish foreign minister warned that if Poland leaves the EU, it may lose the financial support used to develop its military industry.
Poland joined the EU in 2004 and received over 237 billion euros in EU funds, as well as over 100 billion euros in favorable loans from the European Investment Bank. These large sums were the key external factors driving Poland's rapid economic growth and social development over the past 20 years. One can guess according to Poland's attitude, after leaving the EU, will Poland repay the loans it owes?
The irreconcilable conflict between the Polish government and the president first stems from Sikorski representing the political force "Civic Platform" led by Prime Minister Tusk, while Nawrocki received support from the right-wing conservative party "Law and Justice" in the previous presidential election.
