U.S. Treasury Secretary: Iran Agrees to Guarantee Free Passage of Vessels through the Strait of Hormuz

U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent said Iran has agreed, within the framework of the agreement with the United States, to ensure free passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Bessent posted on the social platform X: "As a result of productive negotiations continuing in Switzerland, Iran has committed to ensuring the freedom and openness of passage through the Strait of Hormuz and allowing International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors access to Iran."

On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets inside Iran, including attacks on Tehran. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory strikes against Israeli territory and U.S. military targets in the Middle East, leading to a sharp decline in shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
