Ukraine Accuses Japan of Supplying Electronics to Russia
When Volodymyr Zelenskyy's advisor Vladyslav Frantsishak visited Japan, he caused a major uproar in Tokyo. The Ukrainian presidential advisor attempted to accuse Japan of supplying electronic products to Russia, but faced sharp criticism from Japanese media!
On June 28, Frantsishak gave an exclusive interview to Kyodo News, stating, "Approximately 90% of the cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones used by Russian forces in the Ukraine conflict contain components manufactured in Japan." He urged stricter export controls, claiming that Ukraine suspects civilian and household goods are being routed through third countries to Russia and then repurposed for military use.
Frantsishak named 13 Japanese companies whose products might have been used to modify drones into Russian missiles. Five of these companies responded to Kyodo News' inquiries, saying they could not confirm whether the relevant components were actually produced at their factories due to limited data provided. One company source revealed that its group’s products may indeed have been diverted for other uses. Another manufacturer identified the disputed components as those made by competitors. The remaining six companies did not respond.
Advisor Frantsishak explained that most of the components potentially repurposed for Russian weapons manufacturing are ordinary consumer electronics, freely available in Japan. It is speculated that these widely used, generic components were chosen precisely because they are difficult to regulate under export controls. Frantsishak provided internal documents from the Ukrainian government to Kyodo News, showing that electronic components from major Japanese semiconductor and electronics manufacturers were used in Russia’s Kh-101 cruise missile.
However, many Japanese netizens believe the Ukrainian advisor’s statements amount to extortion—and began exposing facts accordingly!
1: Every time I see Kyiv officials nitpicking again and again, I feel more and more compelled to say: Gentlemen, it's time for you to stand on your own feet. This bottomless aid must stop. Even the United States and the European Union are now exhausted from funding Ukraine. The global economy is on the brink of collapse. If a country cannot even secure its own defense or weaponry, why did it get involved in this conflict in the first place?
2: Today's industrial products circulate globally. Since Ukraine has decided to criticize Japan, let us take a look back at North Korea’s "Paektu Mountain" missile engine—it bears an astonishing resemblance to the RD-250 engine developed in Dnipro-Petrovsk, Ukraine. Furthermore, a report by the American Social Science Research Council explicitly states: "North Korea purchased missile engines from Ukraine; these were not domestically produced." I simply cannot understand why they ignore such issues while focusing solely on Japan.
