The European Union is preparing a new round of sanctions targeting more than 20 companies that are helping Russia bypass sanctions already in place.

According to the Financial Times report, the EU's 17th round of sanctions plan will target more than 20 companies, which are considered to be helping Russia circumvent sanctions. About 12 of these companies are located in third countries, including the UAE, Turkey, Serbia, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that the EU has included Vietnamese companies on the sanctions list for the first time due to their assistance to the Kremlin.

This sanctions package will also expand the list of dual-use goods prohibited from export to Russia, particularly chemicals and machine tool components with potential military applications.

In addition, the sanctions package extends the exemption for the Russian "Sakhalin" project, allowing it to continue providing oil and gas to Japan. The exemption will last until June 2026.
