US media: EU wants to impose tariffs on US goods worth about $113 billion if negotiations fail.
Bloomberg reported that in the event of a failure in trade negotiations, the EU is considering the possibility of imposing tariffs on US goods worth approximately $113 billion.
Unnamed sources informed Bloomberg that, "In the case where the current trade agreement does not yield a satisfactory result for the EU, the EU plans to impose tariffs on US goods worth around 100 billion euros [approximately $113 billion]."
The proposal will be transferred to member states this Wednesday and discussions will take place within a month regarding the US goods subject to tariffs.
Bloomberg reported in April that limited progress has been made in overcoming trade disputes between the EU and the US.
