Vance: The Trump Administration Is Willing to Seek Common Ground with Russia

New York, February 4 -- TASS

U.S. Vice President Jay Dee Vance stated that despite fundamental differences on the issue of the situation in Ukraine, the Donald Trump administration is prepared to seek common ground with Moscow. He revealed this during an interview with American journalist Megan Kelly.

"We intend to work towards ending this (Ukrainian conflict - note from TASS), but there may also be areas of cooperation. His [Trump's] position is: we may disagree with Russia on many issues, but there are some areas where we are aligned, and I really believe this is a fundamental realignment," Vance said.

He emphasized that Trump's foreign policy is based on practical interests rather than simply dividing friends and enemies. According to the vice president, the new White House strategy means that interaction is possible even between rivals, as long as both sides have aligned interests. Vance pointed out that this makes the current approach different from the policies of previous administrations, which refused to engage in any dialogue with Russia due to the Ukrainian conflict.
