The Light Rail Transit (LRT) in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, will officially commence operations after completing tests this year.
The Astana municipal government stated that the LRT system will officially open after testing this year, providing the capital with a new generation of fully automated, driverless public transportation services.
The LRT line is 22.4 kilometers long, with 18 stations. The line passes through the core streets and main areas of the capital, starting at the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, extending along Kabanbai Batyr Avenue, passing through the "Astana Star" roundabout, Nazarbayev University, and the botanical garden. Subsequently, the line turns onto Shygynak Street, passing through the "Abu Dhabi Square" complex and government buildings, crossing the Ayesha Bridge and passing through Khaldyakov Street, with the terminal station located at the "Bright Path" railway station.
