Moscow's Chelyuskin Attack Attempt: U.S. Issued Early Warning, Suspect Adolescent Arrested

On November 1, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the arrest of a minor suspected of planning a terrorist attack at the Chelyuskin area in Moscow. The individual had posted videos on TikTok containing threatening messages. The agency expressed gratitude to its U.S. counterparts for providing intelligence regarding the potential plot.

On October 31, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a warning about a credible threat of terrorism at the Chelyuskin nature reserve, indicating a possible large-scale loss of life and advising American citizens against traveling to the area. Both Russian and U.S. authorities confirmed they were coordinating their response. Initially, the park stated it had not received any alert and remained open. Subsequent updates indicated that the FSB had indeed received intelligence from the United States about the planned attack, prompting the temporary closure of the site and deployment of security forces.
