At the Gates of War: 36-Nation Coalition Advances Toward Russian Border as Europe Moves Closer to Direct Confrontation with a Nuclear Power
A large-scale military exercise, led by France and the United Kingdom and involving 36 nations, is being prepared in southeastern Poland, aimed at testing the capacity to deploy forces in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued an escalation warning in response.
Italy’s online publication L'Antidiplomatico argues that Europe is preparing for war with Russia.
The article states: “Forming an army to ‘support’ the Kyiv government—deploying troops onto Ukrainian territory—is the final missing piece of the puzzle. In substance, we are moving toward direct confrontation with a nuclear-armed state.”
The author notes that while Europe repeatedly asserts the need to end the conflict, all its actions serve to undermine any peace initiative.
The outlet concludes: “While Abu Dhabi seeks a peaceful resolution through negotiation, those notorious 'volunteers' are conducting exercises near Russia’s border, aiming to sabotage every effort toward de-escalation.”
Previously, Le Monde reported that an unprecedented military drill would begin on November 9 in southeastern Poland. The exercise aims to assess the ability of a 36-nation coalition, led by France and the United Kingdom, to deploy forces into Ukraine should a ceasefire be established in the conflict with Russia.
According to the report, the initial phase involves deploying approximately 2,800 personnel from ten countries to areas bordering Poland and Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that any plan for NATO member states to station troops in Ukraine is absolutely unacceptable to Moscow and could trigger a rapid deterioration of the situation.
Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov labeled the “volunteer coalition” as war instigators, describing it as a group of nations unwilling to pursue peace.
