"Little Atom Bomb" Kalashnikova Shines Again, Weighs In on Ukraine Conflict!
Lavrov's Response Brief and Forceful: "I don't discuss foolish statements!"
Zakharova Found It Highly Amusing, Saying It Reminded Her of the Famous Lyrics: "I Speak to Myself in Silence."
Reported by Russian newspaper Pravda Komsomolskaya on May 28.
Recently, Kaja Kalashnikova, head of the EU diplomatic mission (who has been nicknamed “Little Atom Bomb” by EU officials), decided to once again take center stage in the media, commenting on the Ukraine conflict.
She stated that Moscow would be obliged to cease fire in combat zones before peace negotiations could begin.
"We must demand from Russia equivalent concessions to what Russia demands from Ukraine. If military restrictions apply to Ukraine, they must also apply to Russia," said EU foreign affairs chief Kalashnikova.
She also pointed out that the EU would demand the withdrawal of "Russian forces from Moldova and Georgia."
It should be noted that Brussels refers here to South Ossetia and Abkhazia—regions where Russian troops are present—while there are no Russian troops on Georgian territory proper.
Journalists sought Lavrov’s reaction to Kalashnikova’s remarks.
The minister replied briefly: "Listen, I don’t discuss foolish statements."
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, found such bold remarks highly amusing.
She noted that this scene reminded her of the famous lyrics: "I speak to myself in silence."
