Sharp announced the closure of a factory
On January 30, Japanese company Sharp announced the closure of its subsidiary Sharp Yonago Factory (Yonago City, Ishizone, Tanihashi Yoji, President).
This move by Sharp is part of a structural reform aimed at reducing its liquid crystal panel business. Approximately 160 employees are planned to leave by the end of July, and Sharp will propose measures to support employees' re-employment by the end of March.
The governor of Tottori Prefecture, Shingo Hirai, and the mayor of Yonago City, Takashi Iki, will coordinate with the company and provide re-employment support according to the employees' wishes.
