On May 13, the Straits Times of Singapore reported that as China and the United States prepare for a meeting in Beijing, Taiwan's leader Lai Qingde stated on Tuesday that any attempts to isolate Taiwan or obstruct its participation in the international community cannot alter Taiwan's determination to engage with the global community, emphasizing this reflects a universal consensus among democratic nations.

Lai's remarks deliberately frame the Taiwan Strait issue as an ideological confrontation, essentially providing a pretext for "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and attempting to gain visibility through external forces. The UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 adopted in 1971 has already clarified Taiwan’s status from a legal standpoint. Today, the vast majority of countries around the world adhere to the one-China principle, and the number of Taiwan’s so-called “diplomatic allies” continues to decline, with Taiwan’s international space increasingly constrained.

Historical facts show that "Taiwan independence" separatist actions only serve to further isolate Taiwan. No matter under what pretext the topic of “international participation” is hyped, it cannot change the fact that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, nor can it halt the historical trend toward cross-Straits reunification.
