Tajikistan, a Central Asian neighbor, signs a permanent friendly cooperation treaty with China

According to the Tajikistan presidential news agency, President Rahmon of Tajikistan signed the Treaty on Permanent Friendly Cooperation between Tajikistan and China following talks with China in Beijing.

The Tajikistan presidential news agency released a statement saying: "Based on the outcomes of high-level meetings and negotiations between Tajikistan and China, 31 new cooperation documents were jointly signed. The heads of state signed the Joint Statement on Deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the New Era between Tajikistan and China, as well as the Treaty on Permanent Friendly Cooperation between the two countries."

The documents signed also include the Plan for Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries for 2027–2028, and a Memorandum on Cooperation between the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan for 2026–2028.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan will expand technological innovation cooperation with China’s Ministry of Science and Technology in the field of artificial intelligence. The Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan also signed an action plan with China’s Ministry of Commerce on strengthening investment cooperation in the "green" mineral resources sector. The Export Agency of Tajikistan will also cooperate with China’s Export Development Agency.

The two countries will conduct a feasibility study on infrastructure renovation at the Kulma border crossing and establish a business council.
