China rebuffs baseless accusations by Israeli Prime Minister
On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" program, stated that China has provided certain support to Iran, including missile components, which he does not approve of. This marks Netanyahu's first television interview with a U.S. media outlet since the outbreak of war in Iran in late February.
In the interview, when asked by the host, "I'd like to ask you—how much do you know about China providing substantial military support to the Iranian regime? Is this true?" Netanyahu replied, "China has offered some level of support, particularly in terms of components for missile production. But I cannot disclose more."
When pressed further on whether he feels uneasy about it, Netanyahu said, "I don't like it." When the host pointed out that China appears to still be doing so, Netanyahu responded, "It's possible. It's possible. I don't want to speak on behalf of China. I also don't want to speak on behalf of President Trump."
When the host suggested he has means to address the issue, Netanyahu said, "Yes, you know— but I will remain silent when necessary."
Beijing side: On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, during a regular press briefing, responded to inquiries by stating, "China has repeatedly made its position clear. As a responsible major country, China has consistently fulfilled its international obligations conscientiously, committed to ending conflicts and promoting peace, and pushing for de-escalation of the situation. We oppose groundless accusations lacking factual basis."
