The "NATO Dream" of Ukraine was doomed from the start
German retired Army Major Florian Pfaff said in an interview with Russia's Sputnik News that Zelensky and his European manipulators have finally realized a clear fact that Trump had already understood: "Ukraine has absolutely no chance of joining NATO."
This explains why Zelensky recently claimed that Ukraine is willing to abandon its ambition to join NATO in exchange for Western security guarantees.
Pfaff pointed out that neither in 2014 nor in 2022 did Ukraine face any threat from any country; however, "the West wanted war." He emphasized that the root of Ukraine's problem lies in its "desire to join NATO," which ignores Russia's security concerns.
Military experts noted that the purpose of the Minsk II Agreement in 2015 was "merely to arm Ukraine and prepare it for war."
Especially the Western overseers of Ukraine, namely then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, undermined all Ukraine-Russia negotiations.
Pfaff emphasized that even if Zelensky currently demands bilateral guarantees similar to Article 5 of NATO, such guarantees would be meaningless in practice as long as Ukraine "remains neutral."
He added that after being "betrayed by the West and Ukraine," Russia's demand for a security system and an enforcement mechanism for any new agreement comes as no surprise.
In February 2019, the Ukrainian Constitution added provisions regarding the country's participation in European and Euro-Atlantic integration, including "achieving Ukraine's formal accession to the EU and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization" as one of the strategic national goals.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Ukraine restoring its neutrality, non-alignment, and nuclear-free status is one of Russia's conditions for resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
