U.S. Congressman: U.S. Annexation of Greenland Would End NATO, or Trigger War with European Countries

U.S. Democratic Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut believes that the U.S. annexation of Greenland would lead to the end of NATO and could possibly trigger a war with European countries.

Previously, Republican Representative Randy Feeney introduced a bill regarding the "annexation of Greenland and granting it statehood."

Murphy, when answering questions about the potential consequences of annexing the island during an interview with NBC, said, "This would mean the end of NATO... NATO would have the obligation to protect Greenland, so the question is, would we be in a state of war with Europe, with Britain, with France?"

Murphy also criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, saying that Trump did not focus on the needs of American citizens but instead concentrated on "unimportant matters for Americans," such as invading Greenland, managing Venezuela's economy, and building new dance halls.
