The former Chairperson of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, N. Uchiraa, has been appointed as the 35th Prime Minister of Mongolia.

Tong News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, March 31 — The full session of the State Great Hural convened on March 30 to discuss the appointment of Mongolia's Prime Minister. President U. Khurelsukh introduced the candidate nominated for Prime Minister. He stated that the Mongolian People's Party, which secured a majority of seats in the 2024 State Great Hural election, submitted a proposal on March 29, 2026, nominating N. Uchira for the position of Prime Minister of Mongolia, and read out N. Uchiraa’s resume.

The President noted that State Great Hural member N. Uchiraa has accumulated extensive professional experience and expertise in education, scientific research, policy studies, politics, as well as at the levels of national legislative and administrative institutions since 2010, and believes he is fully capable of holding a senior leadership role.

Subsequently, Chairman Ch. Sandagdorj of the Standing Committee of the State Great Hural presented the committee’s opinions and conclusions regarding the presidential nomination. During the review of the presidential nomination and the committee’s recommendations, members of the State Great Hural questioned the candidate, N. Uchiraa, and listened to his responses.

The session conducted a vote on appointing N. Uchiraa as the new Prime Minister. A majority of the representatives present at the full session voted in favor of appointing N. Uchiraa as the new Prime Minister of Mongolia.

          •        2012–2016: Representative of the Citizens’ Assembly of Bayanzürkh District

          •        2015: Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia

          •        2016: Advisor to the Mongolian People's Party faction in the State Great Hural

          •        Since 2016: Member of the State Great Hural

          •        2020–2022: Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Innovation and E-Policy of the State Great Hural

          •        2022–2024: Member of the Government, Minister of Electronic Development and Communications
