BYD (Japan) Sales Increase by 42.7% in First Half of Year, Continuing Three-Year Growth Trend
BYD Auto Japan (BAJ) announced that new car registrations in Japan for the first half of 2026 (January–June) reached 2,334 units, marking a significant increase of 143% year-on-year (+42.7%).
As a result, BYD's new car registrations in Japan have now seen positive growth for the third consecutive year.
The biggest contributor to sales growth came from the newly launched plug-in hybrid SUV "SEALION 6," which accounted for 1,254 cumulative registrations. The addition of its pure electric variant further helps expand brand recognition and showcase the company’s technological capabilities.
In addition, BYD Auto has prepared a limited-time special promotion for Japanese buyers of the SEALION 6—the “SEALION 6 Exclusive Package.” Five optional packages for the SEALION 6 registered before August 31, 2026, will be provided free of charge to eligible customers.
The package includes an ETC on-board unit, dash camera, floor mats, door lights, AC charging cable, or a 3kW wall-mounted AC charger designed by BYD Wall Box EV.
