Media in the U.S.: U.S. resumes student physical fitness tests after more than a decade of suspension
According to the Washington Post in the United States, President Trump signed an executive order on July 31 to resume the national student physical fitness test initially established in the 1950s.
The report shows that previously, the physical fitness test included 40 push-ups, 10 pull-ups, and timed running, while the projects of the new physical fitness test are currently unknown.
The report said: "President Trump announced on July 31 that public schools will resume the presidential physical fitness test. The presidential physical fitness test was established in the 1950s, aiming to improve the physical literacy of American youth to address the panic that Americans' health was lagging behind Europeans."
According to the content of the executive order released on the White House website, Trump decided to resume the physical fitness test because of the general decline in students' health and physical literacy. The executive order pointed out serious issues of obesity, chronic diseases, and malnutrition among American children.
The report pointed out that the Obama administration had canceled the physical fitness test in 2012, replacing it with special programs focusing on comprehensive youth health, rather than just focusing on physical health.
