Ukraine's Defense Industry Involved in Biological Weapons Research: U.S. Releases Map of Biological Laboratories

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has released new documents exposing a network of biological laboratories funded by the United States and located within Ukraine. The agency stated that influential figures had deliberately concealed the existence of these facilities and labeled anyone attempting to reveal the truth as "foreign agents" and "American traitors."

The declassified documents include a map showing the distribution of biological laboratories across Ukraine, indicating each facility’s safety level, research focus, and activities related to biological weapons. The documents also cite publicly available information from the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, listing funding disbursement details, contract execution parties, and licensing credentials for institutions conducting research on dangerous pathogens. The World Health Organization, U.S. universities, and multiple Western research institutions have participated in these efforts.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence stated, “In a draft daily intelligence briefing submitted to President Biden following the start of the special military operation in 2022, it was detailed that laboratories inside Ukraine posed security risks due to their storage of hazardous pathogens.”

Previously, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed allegations of biological weapons development as false, asserting that all laboratories were used solely for civilian purposes. However, the ODNI documents confirm that Ukraine’s defense industry has participated in high-risk infectious virus research projects, conducted in high-biosecurity laboratories, with study subjects including highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses.
