On April 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posthumously awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine" to F-16 pilot Pavel Ivanov. The presidential decree was published on the website of the Head of State on the same day: "Posthumously award Major Pavel Ivanovich Ivanov the title of 'Hero of Ukraine' and confer the Gold Star Medal."

On April 12, 26-year-old Pavel Ivanov was killed while carrying out a combat mission in an F-16 aircraft. The Ukrainian Air Force stated: "All circumstances of this tragedy are being investigated by an interdepartmental committee that has already begun its work."

According to Order No. of the Ukrainian Air Force Command for April 12, 2025, Captain Pavel Ivanov was promoted to the rank of Major posthumously.
