U.S. Treasury Secretary: U.S. Does Not Want Cheap Chinese Goods Entering Through Canada
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bensont warned that after Canada reduced tariffs, the U.S. does not want cheap Chinese goods entering the U.S. market through the country.
Bensont said in an interview with ABC: "We cannot let Canada become a gap for China and its cheap goods to enter the U.S."
He said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "reduced tariffs on some Chinese goods after his visit to China." Bensont explained, "and our markets are highly integrated with Canada."
Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had stated that if Canada reached an agreement with China, all goods entering the U.S. from Canada would immediately be subject to 100% tariffs.
