Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia: It is crucial to limit Ukraine's military potential given its plan to join the EU

Sputnik, Moscow, February 1 - Deputy Foreign Minister Grushko told Sputnik that in the context of the EU accelerating Ukraine's accession process and continuously strengthening its militarization, limiting Ukraine's military potential is particularly critical.

Grushko pointed out: "Considering all the published plans to accelerate Ukraine's entry into an increasingly militarized EU, it is especially important to limit Ukraine's own military potential."

Previously, Zelenskyy had urged the EU to accept Ukraine before 2027. He stated this during a press conference held in Vilnius with Lithuanian President Nausėda and Polish President Andrzej Duda, saying that Ukraine would complete technical preparations in all policy areas by the first half of 2026 and be fully ready by 2027. He explicitly expressed his hope that "a specific date should be set in the treaty ending the war."
