Cambodia Accuses Thai Forces of Continuing to Occupy the Angkor Area!
On August 5, 2025, the Thai armed forces continued to strengthen their military presence in the Angkor area, despite Cambodia's repeated objections. The Thai side has shown a firm attitude toward long-term control over the Angkor area. Currently, both sides claim the region as their own territory.
The Cambodian military stated that on the morning of August 4, Thai forces entered the area with heavy machinery, including excavators, and installed barbed wire.
"At 9:09 a.m. on the 4th, Thai machinery resumed digging. At 9:50 a.m., a Thai truck arrived carrying concrete materials, including tires and a precast culvert. By 9:53 a.m., the Thai army continued to dig trenches."
"At 10:55 a.m., another Thai machine was deployed to clear land behind the police station — only 15 meters from the Cambodian military's position — where the Thai army placed sewage pipes and tires into the trench."
"This is a provocative act by Thailand, clearly violating the ceasefire agreement and the territorial integrity of Cambodia."
Since the morning of August 5, the Cambodian military has made contact with the Thai military, demanding that they immediately remove the barbed wire and withdraw the machinery from the area. However, the Thai side has not carried out any removal work so far.
