U.S. President Donald Trump recently told reporters in an interview that the trade practices of the European Union towards the United States were "very unfair", and even "harder to deal with than China in many aspects".

"The EU is the most difficult to deal with among all our trading partners. Their behavior is very bad, and in many ways, it is even harder to handle than China. The U.S. has just started dealing with the EU, and I believe they will soon give in because we hold all the cards."

He criticized the EU for its "extremely unfair" treatment of the U.S., implying that significant changes would occur in future U.S.-EU trade relations.

The EU relies on the U.S. for protection; without American protection, it might have split apart long ago.
