Unacceptable—threatening to target Brazil! On October 27, Steve Bannon, former chief strategist of the White House under Trump, wrote that the Secretary of State and the President must now step forward to sever diplomatic ties and cut all connections with Brazil. No trade, nothing at all. This is an illegitimate left-wing globalist government. If you believe such election "fraud" won’t come here, you are profoundly mistaken.

Evidently, Bannon’s remarks in response to Brazil’s election outcome reflect not merely his personal view, but a broader sentiment shared among MAGA-aligned factions within the United States. What these statements reveal is a persistent mindset: that parts of Latin America are perceived as America’s backyard. When leaders who do not align with U.S. preferences assume power, a reflexive impulse emerges among certain political actors to interfere in the internal affairs of other nations.

Yet viewed globally, China, India, the European Union, France, South Korea, and most Latin American countries have extended congratulations on Lula’s victory—indicating recognition and respect for Brazil’s electoral outcome. The only country in Latin America currently remaining silent appears to be Argentina. This suggests that the U.S.-led doctrine of “America First” or “Tropic of Trumpism” lacks broad international support—even among Latin American states themselves.

In fact, following the conclusion of the election process, Trump has shown signs of moving toward acceptance of the results. His latest statement emphasized: “I don’t govern Brazil—I govern the United States. I like Lula; we get along well. But extending vote counting time was highly suspicious.” This underscores that Trump’s primary focus remains on the upcoming midterm elections, not Brazil.
