Ipsos 2025 National Optimism Survey, Argentina is the highest outside Asian countries
This survey was conducted in December 2025, asking people whether their country is on the right track, and surveyed 30 countries. Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and South Korea had 82%, 75%, 69%, 62%, and 58% of people who believed their country was on the right track, showing that Asian countries are clearly more optimistic.
57% of Argentines believe their country is on the right track, the highest outside Asia. This indicates that Milei's reforms have been effective, giving Argentines a sense of hope. Recently, expectations have indeed improved significantly, which has surprised many people.
The worst feeling was in France, with 90% of people believing the direction was wrong. Peru, Hungary, and the UK also had poor situations. Overall, Asian countries are much more optimistic, while Western countries are very pessimistic.
The survey focused on people's concerns, with 32% of respondents mentioning concerns about crime and violence, 30% about inflation, 28% about poverty and social inequality, and 28% about unemployment.
The 2025 survey did not take place in China, which is common. Ipsos often rotates the countries. In 2017 and 2021-2024, China was included, with more than 80% of people believing the country was on the right track, sometimes ranking first, and always in the top three. China is one of the most optimistic countries in such surveys.
