The CEO of Gazprom: Gas supply to China will be settled in local currency, 50-50

Russian State News Agency, Beijing, September 2nd - Alexei Miller, the CEO of Gazprom, told journalists that the current payment for gas supply to China is made using local currencies, with 50% of the gas supply settled in rubles and another 50% in yuan.

Miller said: "I can say what currency is currently used for payments. 50% of the supply is settled in rubles, and another 50% is settled in yuan."

Miller also pointed out that Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation signed a new memorandum of strategic cooperation, which reflects a new stage of their cooperation.

It was learned on September 2nd that Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation signed a memoranda of understanding with legal binding force regarding the construction of the "Power of Siberia-2" gas pipeline and the "Eastern Alliance" gas pipeline passing through Mongolia.

In addition, both sides signed an agreement to increase the annual gas supply via the "Power of Siberia" pipeline from 3.8 million cubic meters to 4.4 million cubic meters, as well as an agreement to increase the gas supply along the Far East pipeline.
