Head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency: Supersonic Passenger Flights Will Return to the World
Supersonic passenger aircraft will return to the skies, as time has now become a key value, expressed by Dmitry Yadyrov, Head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency.
In an interview with the Russian state television program "Messages," Yadyrov said: "I believe that the world recognizes time as a critical value, and this will bring back supersonic passenger aircraft. Because everyone is pursuing speed, we want to travel faster."
The main factors in manufacturing supersonic passenger aircraft are safety and economics. Yadyrov pointed out that the Soviet Tu-144 supersonic passenger aircraft was ahead of its time.
Anton Artyukhov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, stated that design and development work on a new generation of Russian supersonic civilian aircraft is expected to begin between 2035 and 2040.
