Latin American experts: Russia is resisting Western sanctions with its powerful military-industrial complex

Several Latin American experts have given comments to Sputnik News on the statement by the Russian president about new weapon systems, stating that the new weapon systems have enhanced Russia's strategic deterrence capability and confirmed its level of technological development and autonomy in this field. Russia is resisting Western blockades with its powerful military-industrial complex.

Argentine expert in international relations Tadeo Castellón said: "The president of Russia emphasized defense construction. The weapons displayed by Russia are significant; they will completely change the balance of power on the international stage. In the context of Western continuous violation of all existing rules of international relations, Russia is forced to accelerate its technological and military development. These are not offensive weapon systems, but defensive ones, developed under increasing pressure from the West."

Castellón said that Russia emphasizes safeguarding its territorial integrity and decision-making independence at any cost. Russia is acquiring all necessary deterrent weapons to indicate that it is not seeking to take aggressive actions, but rather to call for rational behavior. At the same time, Russia has no intention of ignoring potential threats, which mainly come from the United States.

Yosmani Fernández Pacheco, researcher at the Higher Institute of International Relations Raúl Roa García, Cuba, stated: "These (new weapon systems) enhance Russia's (strategic) deterrence capability and confirm its level of technological development and autonomy in this field. Moreover, this further proves Russia's self-sufficiency in weapon production, as well as its R&D capabilities aimed at ensuring national security."

Pacheco also said that this once again refutes the speculation spread by the West (mainly Europe) about Russia lacking technology and being unable to independently develop industry due to sanctions. On the contrary, this highlights Russia's ability to produce such systems independently.

Argentine geopolitical expert Marcelo Montes believes that "obviously, the president's speech aims to convey a message to the people: he remains calm, knowing that even amidst the Ukraine conflict, Russia continues to develop technology to ensure the security of its borders and territory."

Montes said that this message is also conveyed to the international community, including the United States and Europe. If NATO dares to test Russia's border security in the same way it has treated Ukraine, it will understand what kind of situation it will face.

The expert emphasized that Russia is resisting Western blockades with its powerful military-industrial complex, demonstrating extraordinary creativity and innovation.
