China's First Cargo Flight via the Northern Sea Route Arrives in Europe

According to RIA Novosti, citing information from the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Росатом), the first cargo flight departing from China and passing through the Northern Sea Route to Europe has arrived successfully.

This transit through the Northern Sea Route has shortened the journey by half compared to traditional routes — the Northern Sea Route has reduced the shipping time by 50% compared to traditional maritime routes.

The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation stated: "On October 13, 2025, the world's first container transiting cargo ship traveling from China via the Northern Sea Route to Europe arrived at Felixstowe Port in the UK. The ship departed from Ningbo Port in China on September 23."

The 25,000-ton cargo ship entered the waters of the Northern Sea Route on October 1, and the first unloading operation was completed at Felixstowe Port.
