Russian students in grades 5 to 7 will reduce the time spent learning English!
Netizens: Don't be so stingy, it should be completely abolished!
August 22, RIA Novosti report.
Starting September 1, 2025, the number of English classes for students in grades 5-7 in Russian schools will be reduced to two per week.
The news was announced on August 22 on the website of the Russian Federal Ministry of Education and Science.
Notably, this change will take effect at the start of the new academic year and will be implemented nationwide.
This decision aims to optimize the learning burden and use time more reasonably.
The department emphasized that reducing class hours will not lead to the removal of the subject from the curriculum, but rather to find the optimal balance in the teaching process.
The Ministry of Education believes that basic foreign language knowledge will be ensured within the specified class hours.
In contrast, in fifth and sixth grades, one hour per week is allocated for "Biology" and "Geography" respectively.
Russian netizens have reacted strongly to this, with some supporting it and others opposing it.
